|What is 2D animation|
'Flat work' i.e. lacking 3D depth is referred to as 2D work. In animation 2D can take the form of drawing animation where sequential papers are drawn and then scanned in and viewed in close succession to give the illusion of life.
2D can also refer to the process of 'cut out' stop frame animation where flat puppets hinged at the joints are made and sequential photographs are taken of them. In digital 2D also refers to sequential drawings drawn directly into the computer by the means of an electronic mouse pen or by the means of 'pegged' animation where much like the cut out style digitally 2D puppets are made and animated in the computer.
Finding it hard to visualise? 2D drawn animation would look like Disney or Japanese Anima and 2D digital 'pegged' would resemble anything from South Park to Ben 10.
